The #1 Problem For A Cold Climate Gardener Like Yourself?

Looking for Cold Hardy Plants for your Zone 2, 3 or 4 Garden?

Prairie Hardy Plants - discover which hardy perennials, hardy shrubs and hardy roses thrive in cold climate gardens. Learn everything you need to know to grow gorgeous cold hardy plants in YOUR garden.

Here's what I focus on...

  • ONLY hardy plants for Zone 2, 3 and 4 Gardens
  • ONLY time-tested gardening methods, tools, tips and advice

This allows you to...

  • Save Time - no more hunting around trying to find out what to grow
  • Save Money - investing in the right cultivars of hardy roses, hardy perennials and hardy shrubs prevents you from wasting money on plants that won't grow and reduces the amount you spend on annuals
  • Save Frustration - no more trial and error - find out which hardy plants will flourish in your garden
  • Save Energy - no more wasted effort on a garden that doesn't make your heart sing

Don't you hate when you visit a gardening website and they toss all those breath-taking, full-colour photos of gorgeous flowering shrubs or lush blossom-covered vines and climbers in your face? Or how about your local garden centre? Now you would hope that a local outlet would only offer plants that you can grow in your gardening zone - sadly, that is not always the case.

If you're anything like me, it drives you crazy when you see all those stunning (and supposedly) hardy plants - or read the enticing descriptions online. You gasp out loud when you learn that not only is this beauty a floral marvel that blooms all summer long but offers a heady enough fragrance to knock a passer-by to their knees. You rush to your favourite gardening catalogue or nursery supplier website to look it up. You are forced to lay back in your armchair and still your beating heart when you realise that they carry the exact cultivar you're looking for. And - wonder of wonders - they have it in stock.

You click to order - and BAM! That's when it happens. Hardy in Zones 5 - 8.

Your visions of award-winning hardy roses, hibiscus or hydrangea - those swoon-worthy hardy flowering shrubs that would make you the envy of all your neighbours, friends and family - come crashing to the ground. Again!

And that, my friend, is exactly why I decided it was time for someone to come to the rescue. And as I couldn't find that someone myself, I realised it was time to put my own plant knowledge and know-how to the test. And not in some airy-fairy, make-it-up-as-I-go-along kind of way but in the real world. Harsh prairie sun - ceaseless winds (both summer and winter) - clay soil so heavy you need a pick-axe instead of a spade to make any headway whatsoever!

You know. The actual - extreme climates that are well-known to any number of Canadians (like you and me) and to our long-suffering gardening brothers and sisters in the northern United States (waving to you across the grasslands Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota). I'm talking the 40 degrees Celsius below to 40 degrees Celsius above crowd here. Forget all those namby-pamby Zone 5 to a bazillion people who simply toss a plant out the window and voila - flowers. Where we garden it's tough. Weather, bugs, wind. Sun so powerful the shadows are in hiding. And all those pesky deer to boot!

It's enough to make a grown gardener cry.

But wait my friend... dry your tears - buck up - help is on the way... my plan is to keep things simple. You'll find only two kinds of information here;

1) Cold Hardy Plants, Hardy Roses, Hardy Flowering Shrubs, Hardy Vines, Hardy Ferns, Hardy Perennials, Hardy Flowers, Hardy Trees, Hardy Ground Cover Plants, Hardy Grasses... pretty much anything that grows in Zones 2, 3 and 4 without dying :)

2) How to grow all the above with less effort, less wasted money, less wasted time and way less frustration so...

...you can finally have the thriving, colourful, scent-filled garden of your dreams. Onward!
